4 Stars for “The Stone Beach!”

The Stone Beach is a unique story geared toward young adults. The plot tells the journey from childhood into the next phase of growing up. The Stone Beach has several important messages. It speaks of being true to whom you really are, dealing with bullies, and dealing with the loss of a loved one. The Spiritual message in this book was very good, although I wish it had gone a little further. The body is just a shell that holds our spirit; the spirit does not end with the death of the shell. Kim Chatel is an excellent writer. The Stone Beach would make a great book for high interest/low-skilled reading. It is short and easy-to-read and comprehend. This story will appeal to middle school-aged students.
