To celebrate the release of “A Talent for Quiet,” Chatel Village is hosting a Photo-Poetry contest for kids. The rules are simple, send in a photo and a poem to go along with it. Photos can be of any subject and poems can be any length. Send a flower photo with a 3 line Haiku or an action photo with an epic poem. Your choice.

The winning entry will receive a digital photo frame, courtesy of Dan’s Camera City, as well as a 3 book prize pack from Kim Chatel. Two honorable mentions will also receive the book prize packs. The first 96 photos/poems will be published in a ebook and available as a free download from Guardian Angel Publishing.

Contest Guidelines

1. 1The contest is open to all residents of the US and Canada, 17 years of age or younger.
   

2. 2Only one entry per person.
   

3. 3Each entry must include the following: 1 photograph, 1 poem, 1 submissions form which includes parental consent.
   

4. 4The contest will run from September 1st, 2009 to January 31st 2010. All entries received after that date will not be considered.
   

5. 5The judges will consist of a panel of three, one representative from each of the following: Dan’s Camera City, Guardian Angel Publishing and Chatel Village. The decision of the judges is final.
   

6. 6Entries will be judged on artistic and technical merit.
   

7. 7Entries by mail should be sent to: Kim Chatel, PO Box 63, Orefield, PA 18069. Entries cannot be returned. Format for sending photos and poems: Submissions sent by mail should include 1 photo (up to 8x10 inches), 1 poem on a separate sheet, and 1 submission form. Poems may be typed or neatly hand written. Please put your name on the back of the photo and poem.
   

8. 8Email by entries to contest@kimchatel.com. Format for sending email entries: Photos should be sent as jpg attachments, no bigger than 1mb. Poems and submissions forms should be sent as a .doc or .rtf attachment. Please don’t send .docx attachments!
   

9. 9By signing the submissions form, you grant Chatel Village and Guardian Angel Publishing the right to publish your photo and poem indefinitely, with no monetary compensation. You retain the copyright to your work.
   

10. 10Employees (or their immediate family) of Dan’s Camera City, Guardian Angel Publishing or Chatel Village are not eligible to win.
    

11. 11Winners will be announced March 15th 2010. Sign up for the Chatel Village Updates to be sure you don’t miss the announcement.
    

12. 12Prizes: 1st Prize, 5.6 Sunpak Digital Frame ($50 value)and a kids book pack from Kim Chatel ($35 value). Two honorable mentions will also receive the kids book pack ($35 value). The first 96 entries, plus the winners will be collected in an ebook to be published as a free download from Guardian Angel Publishing. Note: There must be a minimum of 12 entries to make the ebook. If 12 entries are not received, the prizes will still be distributed, but no ebook will be made. ***Kids book pack includes the following: 1 paperback copy of Rainbow Sheep and a needle-felting kit, 1 paperback copy of A Talent for Quiet, and a heron-print t-shirt, 1 paperback copy of The Stone Beach, 2 bookmarks.
